2015 is Game Time

I've seen the comment numerous times on Twitter and it is completely fitting for myself.  2013 was practice, 2014 was the warm up, 2015 is game time.  This is a perfect description for how strongman has been for me and how 2015 is going to be for me.

2013 was an interesting year.  I had a win and a few 2nd place finishes but never did as well as I wanted to.  2014 was a huge change by moving back up to New England and beginning to train at Lightning Fitness.  For the first have of 2014, I had a lot of high hopes.  I competed in DE at Battle at Baywood 2 and did nowhere near what I had hoped.  I went in thinking I was going to win, only to choke on the 4th event and come in 4th overall.  Then I planned on compete at Shreveport, only to separate my shoulder 4 weeks out.

Then I moved to CT and started training at Just Performance Fitness.  I compete at Granite State in July and just ran the show, winning 3 of 5 events (didn't win the last event because I already won the show).  I followed that by going to Nationals and coming 11th in the 300lb class.  I wanted top 10 but a few mistakes kept me out.  After nationals, I competed at Poundstone's in November and won that competition.  Then I did the Couples Challenge in December and came in 2nd and 3rd.  Last, I did a unsanctioned powerlifting and strongman competition for fun at my gym and won both of them in 1 weekend.

2014 was a big year for me.  I competed against a lot of really impressive people and learned a lot.  I also won more competitions in 2014 than I did in the prior 4 years combined (only 1 vs 2).

2015, shit is getting real.  My goal in 2015 is top 3.  I want to be top 3 at nationals in the 265lb class (yes, you read that right, I am competing at 265).  I started working with my coach, Josh Pratt, on my nutrition and training.  For the past 6 months since I stopped training at LF, I have just been modifying the training I did there.  I felt like I was getting into a rut and losing the excitement of training and new exercises, almost plateauing.  Josh is completely changing my training around, beginning to concentrate on my flexibility and overall strength.  After a few weeks, we are then going to add the strongman events back into the mix.

He is also working with me on a nutrition program that we are going to be modifying.  I currently am eating 6 pretty big meals a day and consuming 4500cals and almost 400g of protein.  Just after 2 weeks, I can already see myself getting bigger.  My carbs are still on the high end so we are going to cut that down so I can start losing about 1.5lbs/week.  This will get me to where I need to be by nationals without losing any strength.

2015 is also really great for me because at the end of 2014, I got a supplement sponsor, BANA Nutrition.  They send me whatever supplements I want each month which is great because I do not have to settle for one brand.  I get the best of every supplement company and brand.  They are an up-and-coming company that everyone needs to check out for all of their supplement needs.

Like I said 2015, shit is getting real and its game time to me.  There is no more playing around.  Strongman is now my 2nd job and not just something I am doing to fun.  Thank you to all of my sponsors for helping me and staying with me in 2014; The Protein Bakery, Play Again, Body Brigade, and now BANA Nutrition.  2015 is going to be an amazing year and I am excited that I have all of you to share it with.

Let's go kick some ass and achieve some goals!
